Surah Yasin – Arabic Online (full), Benefits and Rewards

Surah Yasin, also known as surah Yaseen, or Ya Sin, it is the 36th Chapter of the Holy Quran and was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) in Makkah.  It has 83 verses spread over the 22nd and 23rd Juz (para) of the Quran.  Chronologically, it was the 41st chapter to be revealed.

Surah Yasin Benefits

There are 6 immense benefits and virtues when recited regularly:

  1. Keeps you steadfast. On the straight path of pure belief in Tawheed
  2. Results in sins being forgiven constantly.
  3. Immense reward. Earns you the reward of ten complete Quran recitations.
  4. Mercy and forgiveness. By reciting over the dead brings mercy and forgiveness upon them

Its main focus is the Oneness of Allah swt without any partners and the success of those who believe in this, belief in the work of prophethood and belief in the life Hereafter.  It emphasizes that the Quran is only from the almighty Allah because it is truly unique and there is punishment for those who disbelieve in it after Resurrection.

Surah Yasin is the heart of the Quran

Surah Yasin is referred ‘to the heart of the Quran’ from a hadith:  Truly everything has a heart and the heart of Quran is {Yasin}; and whoever recites {Yasin}, Allah shall record for him, because of that recitation, the recitation of the Quran ten times” which is narrated through Muqatil b. Hayyan, from Qatada, (Tirmidhi)

Main themes of the Surah

3 beautiful verses from Surah Yasin illustrate its main topics:

Glory be to the One Who created all things in pairs—be it what the earth produces, their genders, or what they do not know!’  Quran (36:36)

‘And we are not responsible except for clear notification.’  (36:17, regarding the Prophets)

‘And indeed, all of them will yet be brought present before Us.’ (36:32 during Resurrection)

When to read the surah

Surah Yasin, just like the rest of the Quran can be read anytime for its reflection and reward.  But according to some hadith, it does seem to bring additional benefits when read either at night or early in the morning.  Many pious people read it after Fajr salaah every day.

Surah Yasin Hadith

Jundub ibn Abdullah (RA) narrates that Rasulullah (SAW) said, “Whoever recites Surah Yasin at night seeking the pleasure of Allah, His sins will be forgiven.”

(Muwatta Imam Malik).

Ibn ‘Abbas (RA) says: “Whoever recites Yasin in the morning, his work for that entire day will be made easy and whoever recites it at the end of the day, his tasks till the next morning will be made easy.” (Sunan Darimi

Narrated from Ma’qal Ibn Yassaar (RA), who said: The Prophet (SAW) said: “Recite Surah Yasin over your dead.”

The Prophet (SAW) said: “Whoever reads Surah Yasin at the beginning of the day; his needs will be fulfilled.”

(Mishkat al Masaabih)

The Prophet (SAW) said: “Whoever continues to read Surah Yasin every night then dies, will die as a martyr.”
