Surah Adiyat – Translation, Transliteration and Benefits

Surah Al-Adiyat is a Makki surah number 100 in order and was revealed in Makkah. It shows how evil a person can become if they reject and deny the hereafter. It also warns us that not only our apparent deeds will be questioned about, but also those that were done in secret.

Surah Al-Adiyat English Translation

  1. By the galloping, panting horses
  2. And the producers of sparks [when] striking
  3. And the chargers at dawn
  4. stirring up [clouds of] dust
  5. and penetrating into the heart of enemy lines
  6. Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful
  7. And indeed, he is to that a witness
  8. and they are truly extreme in their love of [worldly] gains
  9. Do they not know that when the contents of the graves will be spilled out
  10. and the secrets of the hearts will be laid bare
  11. surely their Lord is All-Aware of them on that Day

  1. Wal’aadi yaati dhabha
  2. Fal moori yaati qadha
  3. Fal mugheeraati subha
  4. Fa atharna bihee naq’a
  5. Fawa satna bihee jam’a
  6. Innal-insana lirabbihee lakanood
  7. Wa innahu ‘alaa zhaalika la shaheed
  8. Wa innahu lihubbil khairi la shadeed
  9. Afala ya’lamu izha b’uthira ma filquboor
  10. Wa hussila maa fis sudoor
  11. Inna rabbahum bihim yauma ‘izhin lakhabeer

Surah Adiyat Benefits

From Hadrat A’ta bin Abi Rabah that Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنهم) reported that the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) said Itha Zulzilati (Surah 99) is equal to half of the Quran. Wal Aadiyati (Surah 100) is also equivalent to half of the Quran . Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad (Surah 112) is equal to one-third of the Quran and Qul Ya Ayyuha Al-Kafiroon (Surah 109) is one-fourth of the Quran. Abu ‘Ubayd narrated:

mursal report from al-Hasan al-Basri: “ ‘When the earth is shaken with its (final) earthquake’ is equivalent to half of the Qur’an, and ‘By the (steeds) that run’ (Soorat al-‘Aadiyaat) is equivalent to half of the Qur’an.”
