Also known as surah Inshirah and surah Sharh, Alam nashrah is the 94th chapter of the Holy Quran. Translated in English as ‘The Consolation’, it has 8 verses appearing in the 30th juz that were revealed in Makkah before the migration. It was revealed straight after surah Duha and both directly address the Prophet (SAW).

Meaning of Surah Alam Nashrah
The surah comes to console the Prophet (SAW) who before this was in a state of unease and discomfort. This satisfies him to such an extent that he is now happy and content with what Allah has given him.
The barriers between the Prophet (SAW) and him understanding the revelations have been removed. So when he receives the revelations, he understands it fully.
It also lets him know that the period of hardship he is going through now will be over quickly and soon will follow ease, and the latter part of his life will be better than the earlier.

Transliteration of Alam Nashrah
- Alam nashrah laka sadrak
- Wa wa d’ana ‘anka wizrak
- Allazee anqada zahrak
- Wa raf ‘ana laka zikrak
- Fa inna ma’al usri yusra
- Inna ma’al ‘usri yusra
- Fa iza faragh ta fansab
- Wa ilaa rabbika far ghab
Translation of Surah Alam Nashrah
- Have We not expanded thee thy breast?-
- And removed from thee thy burden
- The which did gall thy back?-
- And raised high the esteem (in which) thou (art held)?
- So, verily, with every difficulty, there is relief:
- Verily, with every difficulty there is relief.
- Therefore, when thou art free (from thine immediate task), still labour hard,
- And to thy Lord turn (all) thy attention
Blessings of Surah Sharh
Allah mentions in the surah the blessings and favors He bestowed upon the Prophet (SAW) especially, including:
- Expanding his chest to handle the responsibility and criticisms he will face
- Relieved his burden to make the task manageable
- Elevated the Prophet’s mention far and wide
